Title: Lead Test Engineer

Location: Columbia, MD

Duration : Permanent OR Contract - Perm

Salary range: $80K - $170K

NOTE - U.S. Citizen capable of obtaining a U.S. Government Security Clearance.

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Test Engineer to develop, coordinate, and execute testing activities to ensure the quality and compliance of system deliverables. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal teams, including design, project, and engineering teams, across North America and Europe to support the verification of system requirements and solve issues. You will be responsible for planning, conducting, and reporting on tests within budget and schedule while ensuring that all testing aligns with industry standards and client requirements.

Daily Responsibilities:

• Develop test plans and procedures based on the program's statement of work, system requirements, specifications, and industry standards.
• Orchestrate and conduct internal and customer test events, ensuring they adhere to the project schedule and budget.
• Provide direct support to design and project teams to isolate root causes of issues, perform analysis, and implement fixes to ensure compliant deliverables.
• Generate comprehensive test reports, problem/defect reports, and mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with the design team and system architect to maintain the verification requirements traceability matrix (VRTM).
• Work closely with engineering teams across Europe and North America to meet project goals and deadlines.

Required Skills:

• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant engineering degree.
• 5+ years of systems test experience with a strong understanding of processes, development, and execution of U.S. Government test programs.
• Proficient in business tools including MS Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Cameo, or similar.
• Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Linux (Oracle), and VM platforms.
• Excellent technical writing skills, with the ability to create clear and detailed documentation.
• Proactive, analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
• Comfortable working within a team and without formal direction.
• Ability to travel up to 30% within the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Additional Skills:

• Configuring and analyzing VoIP networks, computing infrastructure, and software deployments.
• Familiarity with VoIP networking and telephony tools such as GL Communications.
• Experience with test scripting tools, analysis and modeling software, and test/measurement equipment.
• Familiarity with configuring and testing legacy telephony circuits (SS1/4, Shout/Voice lines, or similar) and related audio connections.
• Experience using Nessus security scanner and remediating security vulnerabilities.
