Job Summary

The Business Analytics Analyst I will be a member of the UTA Libraries’ Grants and Assessment team. This position will coordinate data collection, analysis, reporting, and visualization for the department. This position plays a crucial role in advancing the story of the Libraries’ impact and enables the unit to make data-driven decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Data Collection

Collaborates with University Analytics and Libraries departments to gather data from various sources and manages detailed records for internal and external reports and benchmarking exercises (eg: ACRL, IPEDS, SACS, UEP, etc.).

Partners with Libraries departments to determine what metrics from their units are needed and creatively problem solves to establish methods that will allow for the accurate collection of those numbers.

Develops and leads training for Libraries staff on best practices for assessment methods and reporting for their units.

Data Analysis

Collaborates with the Director of Grants and Assessment to develop assessment plans and analyze data related to organizational effectiveness, user needs and user experience, collections assessment, and strategic planning.

Contextualizes data requests and understands how various metrics map to broader organizational initiatives. Synthesizes data to enable Libraries’ Administration to make informed, data-driven decisions in alignment with the department and University’s strategic plans.

Partners with Libraries’ Marketing and Communications to tell the story of UTA Libraries and it’s users to the wider community through visualizations of historical and current data trends.

Data Integrity

Cleans and sorts gathered data (when necessary) to eliminate redundancies and improve accuracy.

Partners with departmental leaders to develop or revise standardized data collection and reporting methods to address needs and concerns.

Remains proactively informed on best practices in data management and reporting.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, information systems, statistics, or related discipline.

Two (2) years experience in data analysis and reporting, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency with analytical tools such as SAS, Tableau, and/or R.

One (1) year of experience working in a Library or university setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

Project planning and management skills, involving designing, leading, and completing a project within its intended scope and timeline.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.

Ability to function independently while working collegially and collaboratively with people of different backgrounds in a team-based environment.

Professional organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Ability to analyze situations and make sound decisions.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint, and other common office software.

This position may include non-traditional work hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays depending on the needs of the university community. UTA Libraries has various locations across campus.
