Welder/Fabricator Site Specialist

Dynamic stainless steel fabricator in the Southeast Suburbs of Cleveland, OH (Solon) is looking for experienced people to help us keep up with growing demand. Competitive wage based on ability and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Welding or joining stainless steel, plain carbon steel, and aluminum using gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG).
• Utilize laser welding technology when appropriate to provide a high level of accuracy and quality
• Fabrication of parts for later assembly. Fabrication of assemblies.
• Work at customer facilities to diagnose, disassemble, demolish, fabricate, assemble, and rework/modify or repair parts and assemblies according to specifications.
• Use engineering drawings, hand-drawn sketches, and verbal directions to decipher work requirements.
• Resolve unforeseen problems while at a customer’s facility. If necessary, fabricate parts without prior knowledge or preparation as needed to keep the project moving. Communicate directly with customers on-site as required.
• Ability to be at work at specified times for planned site departures
• Welding or joining plain carbon steel using gas metal arc welding (GMAW), also known as metal inert gas (MIG).

Skills, Experience, and Training

• AWS D1.1 certification is preferred but not required
• General fabricating ability - utilize handheld tools such as a handheld screw gun, drill gun, grinders, and cut off wheels
• Prior experience welding, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• High proficiency in TIG welding & polishing light gauge stainless steel
• High proficiency in TIG welding & polishing aluminum
• Functional knowledge* of standard welding tools and procedures, including MIG welding, TIG welding, and common welding symbols
• Functional knowledge* of metal fabricating equipment used to cut, grind, and finish metals
• Ability to operate a fork-lift and an overhead crane
• Functional knowledge* of calipers, tape measures, and measuring tools
• Working knowledge** of layout plans, engineering plans, drawings, and work instructions
• Exceptional time management skill
• Basic Math skill
• Ability to think in 3D
• Able to use digitized information
• Strong critical thinking/problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Experience working with teams. Strong team player with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
• Conflict resolution skills include active listening, seeking understanding, team-building skills, emotional intelligence, and frequent effective communication.

Skills Assessment

Applicants will be asked to complete a Welding skills assessment as well as a Fabricator skills assessment to the best of their ability

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
