Geisinger is a seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wound Care Specialist to join our team in Scranton, Pennsylvania. As an integral member of our Musculoskeletal Institute, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive wound care to patients with complex wounds. Job Duties include minimal call coverage and no weekend coverage. Competences required include wound debridement, skin/wound biopsy, wound culture, incision and drainage, and use of bio-engineered skin substitutes. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including endocrinologists, podiatrists, general, vascular, plastic, and orthopaedic surgeons, and infectious disease specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. Effective communication with patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, risks, and benefits is essential. The position requires staying abreast of the latest advancements in wound care, participation in research initiatives, clinical trials, and professional conferences. Accurate and detailed patient records must be maintained, adhering to institutional and legal guidelines concerning patient privacy and data security. Ongoing education and training opportunities are encouraged to stay updated with emerging trends and maintain professional certifications and licenses. Board certification in Wound Care is required within two years of hire. Education required is Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. A licensed Medical Doctor in the State of Pennsylvania is required. Skills include patient care and procedural skills, professional etiquette, and systems-based practice.
