Performs supervisory and technical work in the maintenance and repair of Boise Airport's key systems, such as HVAC, jet bridges, baggage handling system, plumbing and electrical. Plans, coordinates, schedules and supervises a team of airport industrial trades roles. Requires independent judgment and initiative. This position works under general direction. Essential Functions Manages the work of professional, technical and/or other staff; determines organizational structure, staffing needs, and work strategies; ensures adequate resources are available for staff to perform work duties; and ensures that assigned operations and activities comply with organization goals and objectives. Provides guidance, training and development opportunities to ensure the team remains current with industry best practices and safety standards. Conducts regular performance evaluations and provides feedback to team members. Oversees and ensures the proper maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of key airport infrastructure systems, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, baggage handling systems and jet bridges. Collaborates closely with the Facility Maintenance Manager to ensure seamless coordination between trades and maintenance teams, optimizing resource allocation and efficiency across operations. Collaborates with contractors, engineers and other airport departments on major repairs and construction projects. Responds promptly to emergency maintenance requests and system failures to minimize operational disruptions. Manages and coordinates large-scale maintenance projects, upgrades and system installations, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Promotes a culture of safety by conducting regular safety meetings, hazard assessments and audits. Ensures all work is conducted in accordance with safety protocols, OSHA regulations and airport policies. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of experience as a journey-level electrician, HVAC, pipe fitter, facility maintenance or industrial mechanic, and experience in a supervisory or lead position, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Knowledge of: electrical, plumbing, mechanical and structural trades; the operation, maintenance and repair of complex chillers, air conditioners and pneumatic and electronic equipment; methods, equipment and materials used in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance, repair, construction and installation; building codes and regulations; electronic security, access control and fire alarm systems; egress priorities and requirements; automated material handling systems; energy conservation programs; rules and regulations relevant to airport operations; computer usage including related software; and the safe operation of heavy equipment. Ability to: read blueprints and schematics; diagnose malfunctions of complex mechanical equipment; use sound judgment and independent discretion in establishing policies and priorities; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation. Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training Bachelor's degree and ten years of supervisory experience with ten or more highly skilled employees in multiple trades. Experience with automated material handling systems, government purchasing requirements and working in an operations environment that operates 24 hours a day year-round. Public sector experience in a supervisory role and/or history working closely with multiple government entities. Licensing And Other Requirements Valid state-issued driver's license. Ability to complete airport driver training/certification. Working Environment The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, work in/at heights and confined spaces. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals. Work is performed in and around ice, snow, traffic, uneven surfaces, walkways, wind, wildlife, insects, wet and slippery surfaces.
