Job Description Job Description Job Title: Lab Assistant - 1st Shift Job Description This is an entry level role; no experience necessary. The Lab Assistant will be responsible for handling clinical lab specimens, including retrieving samples from storage or walk-in fridges for technicians to retest. The role involves a significant amount of labeling and pouring specimens, with up to 200-300 samples processed at once. You will also scan specimens into a tracking system, ensuring accurate tracking and data entry. Responsibilities Receive and sort clinical lab specimens. Prepare specimens for testing and analysis. Scan and/or enter specimen and patient information into tracking systems. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. Ability to stand for the majority of the shift. Comfortable handling human samples. Additional Skills & Qualifications ~ Must be at least 18 years old. Work Environment The position is scheduled for Sunday through Thursday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Employees receive two paid 15-minute breaks and one unpaid 30-minute break. The work is contract-only, with potential for permanent roles in the future. The role involves light lifting and carrying, with a requirement to lift and push up to 10-15 pounds. The majority of the shift involves standing and working in walk-in fridges, with rotations ensuring you are not in the fridges for the entire shift. The work environment is supportive, with great trainers and leadership to help you succeed. Successful lab assistants have the opportunity to be promoted to Technologist, providing a significant salary increase. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr.
