The Language Fellow, who must be a native level speaker of Japanese, has the opportunity to work closely with experienced language instructors and to gain experience in teaching non-native speakers by conducting conversation classes and drill sessions that supplement language courses. The fellow assists the Japanese faculty members in preparing teaching materials. Language Fellows receive free room and board on Vassars campus for the academic year, a monthly stipend of $700 for 10 months, and international health insurance coverage. They take one Vassar course per semester.Language Fellows should at least have a B.A. and be fluent in English.
