Job Description

Automobile Insurance Underwriter

Go Auto Insurance is actively seeking a full-time property & casualty or personal lines Underwriter to work at our Corporate Headquarters in Baton Rouge, LA. Competitive pay and full benefits package offered including 401k with company match.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Properly Assess and analyze client's background information.
  • Use professional techniques and strategies to calculate the risk associated with client policies.
  • Processing & Completing Endorsements.
  • Process Cancellations and High-Level Changes.
  • Set-up renewals for underwriting review and rating.
  • Assist Underwriters, Supervisor, and other departments with fluctuating workloads.
  • Sort and distribute daily correspondence.
  • Assist with special projects and assignments.
  • Manage and prioritize your responsibilities.
  • Share knowledge, be a team player, assist team members.
  • Listen effectively and enhance communication skills.
  • Develop effective producer and client relationships throughout the company.
  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Answer phones, support office operations and all Company Department.
  • Review carrier underwriting manuals to make sure risk fit, enter all appropriate information into carrier quoting system to generate a quote.
  • Meet and exceed production and company sale's goals through product education and retention of current clients.
  • Make suggestions on changes that could improve GoAuto position in the marketplace.
  • Remain current and understand all company underwriting guidelines, announcements, and memos related to changes in company policies and procedures.

Great Candidates Possess:

  • Personal Lines or Property and Casualty Insurance license required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • Connects very quickly; builds and leverages client and coworker relationships.
  • Excellent follow-up and multi-tasking skills.
  • High level of initiative, drive, and desire to learn new skills and information.
  • Must be highly dependable with integrity.
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Insurance experience preferred.
  • Technologically savvy and data driven.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of insurance products and usage.
  • Knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets.
  • Knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures.
