Posting Context Statement The Graphic Designer will report to the Director of Business Development, Marketing and Communications, and play a key role in shaping the identity and voice of Auxiliary Services and brands within the unit. The Graphic Designer will lead creative initiatives, explore new ideas and approaches, and design engaging and memorable experiences for customers.
Position Overview This position will design and produce graphic content across a variety of print and digital mediums, provide graphic design composition and visual storytelling and integrate marketing objectives to target audiences. This position will manage multiple projects simultaneously, provide visual creative on-brand design solutions, adhere to creative strategy timelines on project briefs, gather and implement feedback and input and execute technical requirements.
Duties may include:
- Understand market needs and create on-brand design solutions
- Create audience-centric designs by integrating marketing objectives, target audiences and creative assets into designs
- Work collaboratively with customers to establish goals, KPIs, strategies, processes, deliverables and schedules for design projects
- Review, recommend and process appropriate printing techniques for graphic design
- Other duties as assigned
Unit URL Position Qualifications
Required Experience - Two years of graphic design experience
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite
Required Education - Bachelor's Degree in a design field; four additional years of experience (for a total of six years) may substitute for a Bachelor's Degree
Required Other - Work nonstandard hours to meet business needs
Additional Preferred - Experience with Project Management tools (Wrike)
- One year of experience using Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience and ability to learn After Effects, Premier and other creative/motion programs
- Active awareness of changes in social media best practices to adapt designs to the most effective formats in a rapidly changing landscape
- Ability to edit basic video capabilities by creating a short gameplay montage
- Experience with motion graphics and HTML5
- Three years of applicable professional experience in an agency setting is preferred
- Experience in higher education
- Ability to be a positive, enthusiastic and solution-oriented attitude to all challenges
- Ability to be a self-starter who can come up with original ideas and see them through to completion
