HOURS AND PAY This is a part-time position averaging 10 hours per week with potential to pick up extra shifts as available. We are currently looking for coverage Monday and Wednesday Evenings from 4pm to 9pm. Pay for this position will start in the $15.00-$16.00 per hour range and includes a free fitness membership for the Fitness Center.
POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction and supervision of the Fitness, Raquet Sports and Aquatics Manager, and the Fitness Center Supervisor, this position is responsible for maintaining a clean and presentable fitness center, providing outstanding customer service and a positive, friendly attitude. This position will leave a lasting impression on our fitness center guests and plays an important part in our success!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Clean all fitness equipment after use and following group classes
- Count attendees to make sure we remain under the designated capacity
- Assist fitness members in machine usage, general fitness questions and assist with sales
- Maintain an approachable appearance and be friendly with members and guests
- Adhere to and uphold Lake Bluff Park District Customer Service Standards
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings
- Must be on time and dressed appropriately for work
- Perform the job safely and in compliance with Lake Bluff Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules
- Understand all safety and emergency procedures
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS - Must be at least 16 years old
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to work well with team members and guests
- Able to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations
- Must be articulate, personable, and able to speak to patrons
- Should possess enthusiasm and drive with a desire to accomplish goals and objectives
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, and occasionally must aide or assist participants. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions which provides for protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Employee may be exposed to noise distractions from customers or fitness equipment.
