Join JSET Automated Technologies - Fiber Technician Opportunity

At JSET Automated Technologies, we specialize in low-voltage controls and communications, specifically the installation and commissioning of mechanical and electrical building management systems for commercial and industrial projects in the Columbus area. We offer hands-on experience and technical training to help you grow in the industry.

Position: Fiber Technician

As a Fiber Technician, you will play a key role in installing, testing, and maintaining low-voltage cabling systems for a variety of projects, including:

• Pulling, routing, and securing low-voltage cables (CAT 5/6, coaxial, and fiber optics) in new construction environments.
• Installing support structures like cable trays and conduit for efficient cable routing.
• Labeling, installing, and testing premise cabling, patch panels, fiber optics, and related hardware.
• Terminating LC, MTRJ, SC, and RJ45 connectors, and testing fiber-optic and copper cabling systems.
• Performing fusion splicing of single strand and ribbon fiber, and testing to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Collaborating with other trades and team members to complete projects.
• Operating lifts to install fiber and control wiring safely.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Valid driver's license.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• Basic copper termination skills.
• Knowledge of universal color codes for cable identification and labeling.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• No prior experience required - we welcome candidates at all skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Fujikura 90S+ and 90R fusion splicers.
• Familiarity with Fluke Versiv Testing equipment.
• Ability to fusion splice single strand and ribbon fiber (OS2, OM3, OM4, OM5).
• Experience with fiber connectors and pigtails.
• Knowledge of industry standards (EIA, TIA, BICSI, NEC) is a plus.
