Job Description: Experienced Dementia Care Aide

Location: Aiken, SC
Schedule: 15 hours per week, Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced personal care aide to assist with the daily needs of an individual living with dementia. The ideal candidate should be reliable, empathetic, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

• Provide personal care services, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for the client, assisting with mobility and positioning as needed.
• Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and medication reminders as directed.
• Engage in meaningful conversation and activities to enhance the client's well-being.
• Monitor and report any changes in the clients condition to family or medical personnel.
• Help with light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, tidying up, and keeping the living area organized.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance, particularly in moments of confusion or anxiety.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in dementia or elderly care is essential.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and manage challenging situations with patience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in emotionally challenging situations (non-reactive).
• Must have a genuine passion for providing care to individuals with dementia.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in caregiving or related fields.
• Experience with non-verbal communication and behavioral care techniques.

Job Requirements:

• Background Check: A thorough background check will be required before starting employment to ensure safety and trustworthiness.
• Drug Test: All candidates must successfully pass a drug test prior to beginning the position.
• Competency Training: The candidate must complete competency training to ensure they are prepared to provide high-quality care for individuals with dementia.
• Orientation: An orientation session will be conducted to familiarize the candidate with the specific needs of the client and the expectations of the role.
