The Illumination Works 2025 Internship Program runs from May 2025 to August 2025 . Start and end dates within those months are flexible.

Responsibilities may include:

• Perform cyber threat intelligence analysis, correlate actionable security events, and conduct network traffic analysis using raw packet data, net flow, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and custom sensor outputs
• Identify Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) and integrate those into sensors and Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) systems
• Analyze security logs and alerts to detect potential security incidents
• Assist with simulated attacks to identify vulnerabilities
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of security policies, procedures and best practices
• Assist in maintaining compliance with Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) standards
• Communicate findings and present results to the project team, leadership, and fellow interns, providing clear recommendations and next steps

Must have qualifications:

• Senior or recent graduate in a 4-year university pursuing a degree in a relevant field (i.e., Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Cyber Security or Data Sciences major)
• Minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.00 scale
• Computer programming experience with Python and/or C/C++ with at least one programming class completed
• Understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth, and common security elements
• Innovative, creative, out-of-box thinking with willingness to learn new skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Acceptable candidates must successfully pass a drug test, pass a background screen, and provide official transcripts
• US Citizenship

Additional desired qualifications:

• Knowledge of web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Security+ and/or CySA+ certification
• Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH)
