We are seeking dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our team as Construction Laborers. This role is essential in supporting various construction projects, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and safely. As a Construction Laborer, you will work alongside skilled tradespeople and contribute to the successful completion of building and renovation projects.

Duties

  • Follow instructions from the Assistant Site Supervisor and Site Supervisors and work cooperatively with other team members.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment as necessary.
  • Perform general construction tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
  • Operate hand tools and power tools under supervision, following safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Clean and maintain work areas, ensuring they are free from debris and hazards.
  • Ensure site cleanliness is “top of mind” for everybody on site including MPHI staff, all trades and suppliers.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols on the job site.
  • Report any safety concerns, incidents, or issues to the Assistant Supervisor or Supervisor immediately.
  • Assist the Assistant Supervisor to ensure immediate action is taken on Erosion Control Inspection reports.
  • Ensure that the Site Supervisor is made aware of any excess materials on site.
  • With direction from the Site Supervisor, assist the Warranty team periodically and as required
  • Help to maintain signage in and around the projects during the construction process.

Skills

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds or more).
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina and endurance to perform tasks throughout the workday.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail an asset.
  • Have a desire and the ability to engage in continuing education and skills upgrading.
  • Flexibility in working periods of overtime and maintain an on-site presence.
  • Have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma
