Link Solutions is seeking a  Computer Software Systems Engineer (Senior-Level)  to join our team in Patuxent River, MD.

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Secret Clearance required
  • Non-remote (relocation incentive available)

In this role, the Computer Software Systems Engineer will lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative software and IT systems to support the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Digital Networks & Applications (DNA) Department. You will provide technical leadership and high-level subject matter expertise, analysis, and strategic advice to support project execution, business and technical operations, and strategic initiatives. You will also support identifying, formulating, designing, and testing complex technical solutions, employing software engineering methods and tools in the development of innovative system solutions.

Additionally, you will provide advanced technical knowledge and analysis of highly specialized applications and multiple operational environments, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, training, and implementation advice on exceptionally complex problems that require expert-level knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation. This position involves ensuring the successful delivery of modernized software applications and systems, leveraging emerging technologies to support mission-critical operations

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of complex software systems and applications to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop and implement system architectures, including cloud-based solutions (e.g., AWS), to enhance scalability and performance.
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software solutions with existing IT systems.
  • Ensure software systems comply with DoD and federal cybersecurity standards, including DOD 8140 requirements.
  • Conduct technical assessments, including code reviews, system testing, and performance optimization.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in modern software development practices, such as DevSecOps and Agile methodologies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of team capabilities.
  • Prepare and deliver technical briefings, reports, and documentation to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • US Citizen
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • IAT Level II Certification equivalent or higher per DoD 8570/DoD 8140 (CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ten (10+) years of experience in software or systems engineering, with at least five (5+) years supporting large-scale federal IT projects.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience working with NAVAIR or other DoD organizations.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML integration, data analytics, and visualization tools.
  • Experience managing IT systems at SECRET, TOP SECRET, and TS//SCI levels.
  • Problem solver and troubleshooter who thrives in resolving complex problems.
  • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
