Position Overview:  

Gordon Arata’s Lafayette office is seeking a motivated and talented litigation attorney to join its team. This role offers a primary focus on litigation, with the opportunity to participate in transactional work for candidates interested in expanding their practice. The ideal candidate will be eager to handle diverse and challenging cases, work collaboratively with experienced attorneys, and build strong relationships with clients. Key Responsibilities:  

• Manage and handle all aspects of litigation cases, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and preparing for trial. 
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, motions, and briefs. 
• Represent clients in court, mediation, and arbitration proceedings. 
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and team members. 
• Collaborate with colleagues in Lafayette, New Orleans, and Houston on complex litigation matters. 

Qualifications Include:  

• Excellent academic ranking (top 15-25% ranking; journal, moot court, or mock trial experience preferred) and Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. 
• Strong analytical, research, and writing skills. 
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
• Member in good standing of the Louisiana State Bar.
