Assistant Controller – Path to Controller | San Antonio, TX | Construction & Services Industry | $140,000-$150,000

We’re seeking a driven, detail-oriented accounting professional with construction experience and leadership potential. You’ll join a team of experienced professionals and step into a well-rounded role designed to develop into Controller after training and onboarding.

What You’ll Do as the Assistant Controller
You’ll be involved in nearly every area of accounting, including:
Construction accounting , job costing, and subcontractor/vendor compliance
Multi-currency and international transactions , including international taxes
CAPEX accounting , amortization, and fixed asset schedules
Sales and use tax, service-based revenue accounting
Consolidated financials and intercompany transactions across multiple entities
Cash management, audit preparation (including ESOP and insurance audits)
Subcontractor certificates, lien notices/waivers, and compliance tracking
Month-end close, debt schedules, and M&A-related journal entries
Workflow/process optimization, paperless environment improvements, and external response turnaround
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
Has construction industry accounting experience (required)
Is confident with Excel (intermediate to advanced) and month-end processes
Can lead and mentor others while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Enjoys getting into the details and being hands-on
